Optimizing Your MongoDB Dataset

Yesterday, we co-presented a webinar with MongoDB, Inc, the maker of MongoDB. The topic was how to think about scaling to 100GB and beyond. We’ve worked with many customers as they scale, and wanted to shared some of our knowledge. Below is a link to the slides in the presentation:

    ehm… is 100GB “big data”???

100GB is “the gateway” to big data. We have customers who start from scratch, so 100GB is relatively big data for customers.

Also, we chose 100GB because that is typically the point when sharding becomes more obvious — thus you think about scaling horizontally.

With NoSQL, it is important to get the first 100GB right to have a good, successful db.
